The personality of this cottage reflects and pays homage to the building’s history. The cottage was renovated by Cream & Black from a large four-car garage into a stylish three bedroom home. The interior style is also a nod to the previous life of the workshop and the client felt it important that we follow this ethos both externally and internally.

We managed every aspect of the project, engaging in each stage of the build and design process. We took the design scheme from the existing building’s history and updated it with an industrial look. We were keen to use existing materials where possible as demonstrated by the use of the building’s old water tank panels, which we set into the external wall and painted a petrol blue to add another distinctive feature to the building.

A brushed brass panel illuminated with subtle LED lights contrasts with raw materials to give the space a touch of glamour.

We wrapped the micro concrete worktop onto the floor, cleverly framing the cabinets to create a smooth and seamless finish.

Delicate brass handles contrast perfectly with our handcrafted wall cabinets painted in Fired Earth’s ‘Carbon Blue’.

Handmade cross saws oak doors and drawers are finished with a light oil to reveal the texture of the timber.

Custom made table and bench form the focal point of this dining space with vintage Ercol chairs at each end.

The original workbench and vice have been reinstated and now act as a sideboard, becoming the statement piece in this space.

The old roof rafters to make the stair treads; sandblasting the timber to bring out the texture of the grain and finishing it with a dark stain.

Micro concrete flooring wraps up the shower wall with an illuminated shower niche.

This utilitarian style shower room includes a Philippe Starck 3 basin and WC.

By enlarging and lowering the windows and placing the bed in the centre of the room, we have maximized the views.

It’s a great way to utilize space; bookshelves have been built into the back of the bedhead wall to create both a practical and stylish design feature.

The roll top freestanding bath painted in Fired Earth’s ‘Hustle at 5pm’ sits proudly on the beautiful patterned flooring.

We designed this Carrara Marble vanity unit with a simple metal framing while mounting wall lights onto the mirror reflects more light.

A rustic stone washbasin sits on a bespoke floating vanity shelf supported with chunky visible bolts.
